Hi Mary! There is a story behind the pins. I am Alutiiq and they remind me of my grandmother. There are two reasons – first they are similar to the icons in the Russian Orthodox Church and also because they look like the little village ladies with their parkas on. I call them “My Little Ladies”. :) Cheryl

I purchased a pin of yours in Kodiak Alaska this summer at the Museum. It has artist Cheryl Lacy as the artist, Wasilla Alaska, permit number 2198. I’m curious if it has a story behind it. it has a circular face closed eyes surrounded by beads and some shells, the body is a precious stone, below it are three pearls again everything is surrounded by beads. I can’t figure out how to post a photograph. Is there a story behind this figure.
